Upcoming Classes and Workshops
$175, 4 weeks, Saturdays, 2-5 pm, 13 Feb – 6 Mar 2021
Techniques for skies in larger paintings (approximately 9×12″ and above).Techniques taught in this course REQUIRE STRETCHING YOUR PAPER!!! Please do not enroll in this course if you are unwilling or unable to stretch your paper. Projects 1 and 2 of my online Skies & Clouds course were developed as course supplements for this course. You may do the sample projects from the online videos or I will assist you with designing your own project using the same set of skills. Suitable for anyone who would like to pursue that material with assistance, or who had difficulty learning the material from the supplemental course materials alone. This course is most suitable for those who have completed a beginner course similar to Watercolor Jumpstart. Because of the time required for layers in larger paintings to dry, you will want to schedule at least 3-6 hours each week outside of class meetings to continue work on your projects.
Minimum enrollment: 4
$45, 5-8 pm Pacific Time, Friday, 22 Jan 2021
Techniques suitable for twilight and nighttime skies for small paintings (postcard size to about 9×12″) and not requiring stretching the paper. Does not require Small Skies Clinic I as a prerequisite. Does not cover illuminated clouds against complementary or darker sky colors, such as orange clouds on a turquoise sky (covered in Small Skies Clinic III) or light effects such as rays of light or sunrise/sunset scenes with the sun (or bright sunlight) visible between clouds (covered in Small Skies Clinic IV).
Minimum enrollment: 4

What do you love about color? Wild brilliant color or soft semi-neutrals? Mostly monochrome or all over the color wheel? In this class you’ll dive deeper into using color in your paintings. Explore and expand your use of color to make your work more personal and expressive.
Are you wondering how I can see your work and give you feedback in Zoom? I’ve been doing watercolor coaching via Zoom for almost two years now—I’ve got a system! Here’s a short video to show you how it works.
NOTE: I specialize in small-group and individual classes and coaching. I do not offer any pre-recorded video-on-demand courses. (The “course videos” on my website are supplemental videos made for students in certain past classes to use for review and practice. They are not intended to be self-contained courses and are available “as is” and unsupported.)
All of my current classes, demos and workshops are live and interactive via Zoom. This means students may be seen or heard during Zoom sessions. I respect the privacy of class participants (and the relevant privacy laws) and do not release or sell class recordings to others who wish to view the class at a more convenient time.
If you are seeking a video-on-demand course, please consider supporting artists who DO offer these courses. Try Skillshare or follow links from those who advertise their courses or Patreon accounts on YouTube. Artists’ Network TV is another excellent option. For a small monthly subscription, you receive access to hundreds of professionally-produced video-on-demand courses featuring nationally- and internationally-renowned artists. (Far, far better than anything I could offer you.)
